Collaboration, Main Focus of Cloudforce Essentials Conference
Last Thursday, Doextra co-sponsored the Cloudforce Essentials Conference (#Cloudforce), an event hosted by salesforce.com.
The Cloudforce Essentials Conference stopped in Omaha as part of a two month, five-city tour. The Omaha event drew more than 125 attendees, and fostered an interactive environment for discussing new Summer 11 releases. The primary focus of the event was salesforce.com's latest innovations to boost collaborative corporate environments.
Chatter Increases Efficient Company-wide Communication
Collaboration, in conjunction with clean data, is the new generation of salesforce.com's technical offerings. Behind the cutesy user interface is a lot of tech muscle - being used to generate internal tools for sharing ideas, documents, links and other materials in a real-time capacity. Long gone are the days of "Reply All" emails. With Chatter, salesforce.com's proprietary Collaboration tool, companies can quickly create Groups and share information for feedback without messy email threads. Chatter's most convenient feature is that it matches up subject topics, accounts, and user profiles, so that information is neatly tucked away after dissemination.
Eric Johnson, VP of Commercial Excellence at NBC Universal said in a recent interview with salesforce.com's Peter Coffee that Chatter is changing the way people think internally and information "silos" are a thing of the past (to watch the full video, click here).
Empower Your Team
From talking with other Salesforce customers, I have found that the initial employee reactions to Chatter are predictably all over the board. Just like with the introduction of any new technology, user adoption needs to be nurtured with Chatter. With regards to technical complexity, users that are familiar with Facebook or Twitter will feel right at home picking up Chatter. Chatter has the potential to support so much more than basic company updates, it is the springboard for technical innovations and the new medium for handling customer service.
Cool points: Chatter is free for Salesforce subscribers and apps are available for the iPhone, Blackberry and Android.
